The cost to heat homes is becoming a drag on those that are barely living on their current wages. However, multitudes of families are looking into purchasing stoves in order to combat the ever increasing cost of fossil fuels. Made from iron they have the ability to burn other natural resources such as wood, coal and other forms of fuels. Wood burning stoves offer an incredible ability to efficiently warm homes and small places of business because wood is easily obtained. Stoves can also be purchased and used as a backup when used in conjunction with lowering the thermostat and allowing the heated metal to warm the home. The only knock a wood stove has is they do create a dust factor in the rooms in which they are used. Also, if the homeowner has cats, they do like to jump up on things and could jump on a hot surface, so care is needed.

There are also multi fuel stoves on the market as wood stoves are generally used for timber alone. Many manufacturers are producing wood and coal combination stoves as a method of heating homes more efficiently. Other choices are such fuels as corn cobs, corn pellets, and soy bean. For those that are woodworkers, some stoves are manufactured to burn saw dust and eliminate the need of disposing sawdust on their properties.

Wood burning stoves come in an array of styles and colors and these days they are highly advanced with their dampening systems. While many of them are still supported by four legs, there are other styles that have them placed on pedestals. Even without having an existing chimney, stoves can be setup easily with duct work that exits a room through the wall and up above the roofline. When you take into account the cost of rising fuel, it makes perfect sense to look for alternate methods of heating the home.
